SecuriMetrics Builds on Its Biometric Offerings for Corrections and Announces “OFFENDER-ID™” Solution for Positive Inmate Identification

Growing List of County Jails Select SecuriMetrics for Inmate “Book & Release” Using Iris Identification and OFFENDER-ID™ Software

MARTINEZ, CA, December 21, 2005 – SecuriMetrics, Inc., a world leader in iris and multi-modal biometric technologies, has announced the release of OFFENDER-ID™, the next-generation of inmate identification hardware and software.

OFFENDER-ID™ is an advanced inmate ID management system incorporating state-of-the-art biometric technology. Correctional facilities can now upgrade critical processes such as booking and release using iris identification.  In addition, agencies will have the ability to build an iris biometric database of new and repeat offenders entering and exiting their facilities.

The benefits to the new OFFENDER-ID™ solution include:

  • Reduction of erroneous releases thereby increasing public safety
  • Quick identification of repeat offenders regardless of aliases or non cooperation
  • Identification of enrolled offenders anywhere, inside or outside the jail
  • Elimination of double bookings and multiple ID #’s for the same offender
  • Creation of an audit trail of inmate movements
  • Efficient management of the work release or work crew population
  • Active population counts of all offenders under control
  • Warnings for overdue “work release” offenders

Concurrent to the launch of OFFENDER-ID™, SecuriMetrics also announced contracts with two county jails for its OFFENDER-ID™ solution.  Creek County Jail in Oklahoma and Monterey County Jail in California have executed contracts for SecuriMetrics’ inmate identification technology and professional services.    Both counties will be installing the OFFENDER-ID™ solution for booking and releasing inmates at their facilities.

“After exploring various technologies, we selected iris id and SecuriMetrics’ solutions as the fastest and most accurate means of insuring the identity of offenders.  Our primary goal is to provide a greater level of public safety to the Monterey County community and to increase efficiency within the facility,” said Captain Ray McLaughlin.

Under the terms of these contracts, SecuriMetrics will enable both counties to enroll and identify inmates using advanced iris identification technology and begin to build a biometric database of current and former offenders.  SecuriMetrics will be providing all the necessary hardware, software and training for both counties.

“These two additional contracts support our position as the preferred provider of inmate identity management solutions for correctional facilities” said Greg Peterson, CEO, SecuriMetrics, Inc. “We’re pleased to have been selected by these two well known and respected county facilities and we are certain our solutions will effectively meet their need to quickly and accurately ID offenders using advanced iris identification technology.”
